Code of Conduct

 

In all our communications—whether face-to-face, on our platform, in group chats, mailing lists, or on social media channels—we place great importance on lively, open, and respectful interaction. To ensure that our exchanges are always characterized by friendliness, fairness, and consideration (and so that admins are not required to delete posts), we ask that you observe the following:

  • Always treat others with respect—just as you would like to be treated yourself.
  • Speak for yourself. Your posts should be clearly identifiable as your personal opinion (use the first person).
  • Stay objective and avoid verbal outbursts.
  • Be tolerant and respectful of others’ opinions, and don’t try to impose your point of view on them.

We reserve the right to delete posts without prior notice to the author if their content is

  • defamatory
  • offensive
  • violating personal rights
  • harmful to minors
  • politically or religiously extreme and/or inflammatory
  • racist or sexist
  • hostile toward queer or trans people
  • discriminatory in any other way
  • inciting violence
  • pornographic
  • illegal

Posting such content is not permitted and will not be tolerated; it may result in the suspension (including permanent suspension) of the account responsible. If you experience any unpleasant encounters in our online spaces, please contact the VOW Team. 

The same applies to our networking events, where we meet in person. Here, too, we reserve the right to exclude individuals who (repeatedly) violate the code of conduct. In addition, paying attention to the following points helps us foster a positive atmosphere: 

  • Don’t give people unsolicited advice.
  • Don’t take close-up photos of people without asking.
  • Going topless is not permitted, with exceptions for children, breastfeeding mothers, and at swimming areas.
  • We all make mistakes. Apologize if you’ve behaved inappropriately.
  • You can’t always tell someone’s gender identity just by looking at them. So ask others about their pronouns, or avoid using them altogether.

If you have experienced any uncomfortable or discriminatory situations at our live events, please contact the on-site Awareness Team. They are there to listen and can take further action. If you have any questions in advance about an event’s Awareness policy, please contact the VOW Team.

Thank you very much for your interest in our website and the Network of Open Workshops. The operators of this website take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with applicable data protection laws and this privacy policy. You can use our website without providing any personal data. If personal data (such as name, address, or email addresses) is collected on our website, it is always done on a voluntary basis whenever possible. This data will not be disclosed to third parties without your expressed consent. Collection, Processing, Use, and Disclosure of (Personal) Data
Every visit to this website and every access to a file stored on the website is logged. This information is stored for internal system-related and statistical purposes. The following data is logged: name of the file accessed, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, web browser, and requesting domain. In addition, the IP addresses of the requesting computers are logged. Further personal data is collected only if you provide it voluntarily, for example, as part of an inquiry or registration.

YouTube
Our website uses plugins from YouTube, a site operated by Google. The site is operated by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit one of our pages that includes a YouTube plugin, a connection is established to YouTube’s servers. In the process, the YouTube server is informed which of our pages you have visited.

If you are logged into your YouTube account, you are allowing YouTube to associate your browsing activity directly with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.

SSL Encryption
This site uses SSL encryption for security purposes and to protect the transmission of confidential information, such as the inquiries you send to us as the site operator. Eye-Able
Eye-Able® is software developed by Web Inclusion GmbH to ensure that everyone has barrier-free access to information on the Internet. The necessary files—such as JavaScript, stylesheets, and images—are loaded from an external server. When functions are activated, Eye-Able uses the browser’s local storage to save the settings. All settings are stored only locally and are not transmitted elsewhere.

To defend against attacks and provide the service in near real time, Eye-Able® uses the Content Delivery Network (CDN) provided by BunnyWay d.o.o. (Cesta komandanta Staneta 4A, 1215 Medvode, Slovenia). This service is used for the purpose of fulfilling our contractual obligations to our customers (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and in the interest of ensuring the secure, fast, and efficient delivery of our online services by a professional provider (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). All transmitted data and servers remain within the EU at all times to ensure that processing complies with the GDPR. Web Inclusion GmbH does not collect or analyze any personal user behavior or other personal data at any time.

To ensure that data is processed in compliance with data protection regulations, Web Inclusion GmbH has entered into data processing agreements with the hosting providers IONOS and BunnyWay.

Pretix
We use Pretix for our event management. When you register for one of our events via a Pretix online form, you consent to the storage of your data for the purpose of event administration. A data processing agreement is in place between pretix GmbH and Verbund Offener Werkstätten e.V.

pretalx
For some of our events, we use the conference management system pretalx, a product of "rixx.de software development." When you submit information via a pretalx form, you consent to the storage of your data for the purpose of event organization. A data processing agreement is in place between "rixx.de software development" and Verbund Offener Werkstätten e.V.

easyVerein
Membership applications can be submitted on our website via an embedded online form. The data entered is processed by SD Software-Design GmbH using the easyVerein software. A data processing agreement is in place between SD Software-Design GmbH and Verbund Offener Werkstätten e.V.
